Travel Photography – Washington DC – Fuji X100
Seven years. That’s a long time since I last traveled back “home” to Washington DC–the place I considered to actually be home for much of my life. For the first seven of the 14 years I’ve been living in Denver, Colorado, I made it back to DC several times a year. It always felt like I was easily picking up where I left off. But after being busy with life in Denver–getting married, starting a photography business, having a daughter–DC has sort of slipped away from me. So after seven years–this trip back felt different. It felt like I was reconnecting with a place and life I used to live. Not something I purposely pushed away, but certainly felt a stranger to. It was really great to go back though. I brought along my wife, who had been once before with me–2 months after we first started dating. I brought my daughter, which was probably the highlight for me. And I brought my great little Fuji X100 camera to document the travel. The only other time I had traveled with the X100 was when we went to Maui, Hawaii earlier this year– those X100 Maui travel photos are here. It was such a great opportunity to stroll down memory lane. The oddest feeling was seeing my daughter walking around the house that I ran around in when I was just a wee little one. It was hard to wrap my head around. It was nice to see some parts of the city, great to see family, and also wonderful to catch up with some friends that I miss having in my life on a more regular basis. All in all–a great trip and I’m pleased to share some of my favorite photos from the 4 days of our travels.
